Dr. Edgar “Barry” Moser, Department Head, died unexpectedly of a heart attack while playing soccer Wednesday night, April 19, 2006. The following obituary appeared in the Baton Rouge Advocate:

Moser, Dr. Edgar "Barry" Dr. Edgar "Barry" Moser, beloved husband, kind and loving father, son, brother and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2006. He was 50 years old. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Beverly DeGrotte Moser, Baton Rouge; and daughters, Carole Marie Moser and Erica Layne Moser, both of whom reside in Baton Rouge. He is also survived by three brothers, Mike, Greg and Phillip Moser, all of North Carolina; and a sister, Patricia Waugh, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Aline Moser. He was born in Greensboro, N.C. He received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and his doctorate from the University of Georgia. He was the department head of Experimental Statistics at LSU since 1997, and was a professor since 1985. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He was active in Sigma XI, American Statistical Association, Biometric Society, Gamma Sigma Delta and Phi Kappa Phi. His passions were playing soccer, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, April 23, from 2 p.m. until funeral service at 4 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Bill Youngblood.
